Is it a long or a short haired cat, first of all? - She's long haired. - Okay, okay and have you ever had a groomer work on the cat? - No. - Okay what I would try, not that I'm trying to take anything out of the veterinarian's hands, but sometimes in the grooming salon, a professional groomer, because they do it all the time, may have a lot more success removing the knots and tangles, now depending upon how serious they are, would really determine, you know, if they could remove them or not. A lot of times the cat, though, even though it seems like it's hopeless, if you take your time and you have two people work on the cat, where they take their time, the cat's not stressed out, a lot of times you can work it out. Now can you clip the cat down? You absolutely can, but my question to you is, did you ever do that before to this particular cat? - No. - Sometimes what happens is, when you clip cats down short, because there really isn't, you don't have much of a variation, you either have to go real short or you got to leave it full-coated and that's only because of safety reasons, the blade that you have to use on the cat cuts to one eighth of an inch off of the skin, so basically, it's bald. What happens is, a lot of times, the cats know that there is a change. They don't know exactly what it is and sometimes will go into a state of depression where they will hide or I mean, just not want to see anyone because they are embarrassed of what has become of them. Even though they don't know exactly what it is, they just know it's a change. If you do have to do that, the most important thing is, is you don't want to laugh at the cat, you don't want to change anything. Believe me, they know. They know if they are being laughed at, they know if it's a different situation. So if it has to be clipped down, I would use it as the last resort.
