Well it's always nice to have pets around, there's a new study out, it finds that having a dog to cuddle up to and play with is great for children as those kids are less likely to suffer from anxiety because of the dog. The study included more than three hundred and fifty children between the ages of 4 and 10 who had a dog in the family and found that out of fifty eight percent of children who had a dog, only twelve percent tested positive for anxiety in comparison to twenty one percent of the kids who didn't have a pet. According to the national institute of mental health, anxiety disorders affect at least 1 in 8 children. Experts say childhood anxiety is a major mental health problem in this country and that anything they can do to lessen anxiety or even prevent it's development would have a big impact on our mental health system.
